Modelling of biological systems is very broad topic. Even narrowing down the modelling applications to Systems Biology, Systems Medicine and Synthetic Biology there are still many types of modelling aims and means.

The Computational Systems Biology Group, started in October 2006 in Jelgava, Latvia. Our modeling interests started with kinetic modeling of metabolic pathways. Now we know much more about the spectrum of modeling applications and a number of brilliant modeling tools.

Now we want to the development and interaction of modeler’s and biologist’s communities by giving opportunity to meet once a year in Riga in spring, when Riga is very special in many ways. We want to give a stage to the developers and users of different systems biology, systems medicine and synthetic biology modeling approaches to present their newest software, results and application examples.

Our plan is to see several software presentations in the annual BioModelling Spring Riga events in the future. This year might be exception: the course in 2018 is devoted just to COPASI tool - the first systems biology software used by our group!
