The meeting of the International Study Group for Systems Biology (ISGSB) in 2016 was hosted in Jena and take place 4-7 October. The ISGSB (formerly BTK) meeting welcomes biologists, computational modellers and interdisciplinary researchers in the systems biology field.

Computational Systems Biology group participates at ISGSB meetings on a regular basis to meet colleagues in less crowded environment as it happens at International Conference of Systems Biology.  This year the event was dedicated to Reinhard Heinrich who has promoted systems biology and metabolic control theory. He died ten years ago. Another specificity of the Jena are the years spent under Soviet socialism: traces of last decades could be found in many places. Similar processes experienced in Latvia stimulate memories.
