Friedrich Zander and Latvian Astronomy Collection of Museum of University of Latvia has two exhibitions. The largest is dedicated to the history of Latvian astronomy. The most notable object in this part is the original Time Service room with all the equipment – clocks, chronometers, chronographs, as well as other equipment that helped keep accurate time for many years. Next to it is a large exhibition hall with older and more modern astronomical instruments, books, star charts, a collection of meteorites.
The second exhibition is dedicated to the rocket scientist and constructor Friedrich Zander. The author of its design and wall mural is the Ukrainian artist Maria Zenkova. The exhibition tells about Friedrich Zander's childhood in the family home in Riga, Zasulauks; about his years of study at the Riga Polytechnic Institute. The exhibition presents the scientist's achievements in space research - the GIRD X rocket, the OR-1 rocket engine, calculations of interplanetary flight trajectories, the interplanetary rocket-airplane project, and others.
