Crypthecodinium cohnii and Zymomonas mobilis syntrophy for production of omega 3 fatty acid from byproducts of biofuel and sugar industry (CryZym project in short) is in the middle phase. An interim report is under development.

Our institute in the collaboration with JSC Biotehniskais Centrs and Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry have a good progress in the development of technology to convert industrial by-products into Omega 3 fatty acids by the help of  microorganisms Crypthecodinium cohnii and Zymomonas mobilisCryZym project has come to new conclusions about the syntrophic process taking into account experimentally observed behavior of organisms in different environments. One scientific manyuscript has been submitted as planned before the interim report. Now we have got also CryZym logo made by Santa Prikule.

Regrettably we coud not follow the plans of dissemination in conferences due to the COVID-19 problems. COVID-19 has influenced also our regular project meetings: since autumn 2020 they take place in on-line manner.
