The amount of participants at the world’s biggest conference on systems biology seemingly heavily depends on the reachability by airplane and local accommodation options. This year the conference was relatively small but organisers did a good job and the event was a great opportunity to see friends and exchange opinions. Agris Pentjuss and Egils Stalidzans met COPASI developers’ team, users of COBRAPy and other peers.

For the first time Egils met John Doyle who was inspiring and promoting applications of engineering approaches in systems biology when Egils just entered the field in 2005. Next year the conference takes place in Lyon, France.

The history of our institute has started in 1946…
Since 1993 we are at the University of Latvia.
Our history counts many research directions including soil microbiology, setting up a lysine factory, application of microorganisms for ecological tasks, production of valuable substances from waste, cell physiology, food biotechnology, medical applications, systems biology, mathematical modeling and other approaches.
We are open for new challenges!
