Akadēmiskais centrsWe assume that most of foreign participants will arrive by plane to the Riga International Airport (RIX). In this case we advise to take a taxi at the entrance of the airport. We recommend to take a taxi of the companies: BALTIC TAXI (the cars are salad-green color) or RAD CAB (the cars are red and white colors). They are not the cheapest, but the most reliable companies. The price should be about 13 EUR. In any case, it will be between 10 and 15 EUR.
Of course, you can come to the hotel ISLANDE by bus. The problem is that in this case you have to change a bus at some stop. You take bus 22 at the airport and go to the stop “Slokas iela”. Then you cross the street and at the stop “Valsts arhīvs” take buses 37, 41, 53 or trolleybuses 25, 12. Then you go one stop further to the stop “Ķīpsala”. Now you are about 5 min walk to the hotel.
In Riga in the public transport you have to use an electronic ticket (1.15 EUR) which you can buy at a wending machine or in the street shops NARVESEN. Also you can buy such tickets at the airport. If you buy 10 tickets the price will be 10.90 EUR. You must activate a ticket in the bus, trolleybus or tram. Unfortunately, you are not allowed (for this kind of a ticket) to change the lines: for each vehicle you must activate a separate ticket. You can also buy a ticket from the driver, but then the price will be 2.00 EUR.
