  THE CONFERENCE OBJECTIVE

is to bring together researchers, decision makers, specialists, NGO representatives and other stakeholders to discuss the impacts of climate change and variability in the Baltic Sea region and approaches for the development and implementation of adaptation strategies.

    CONFERENCE TOPICS: 1. Climate change in the Baltic region

Major indicators of climate change, climate change in the Baltic region, changes in extreme events (storm and flood impacts), modelling of climate change and its impacts. Impacts on biodiversity.

2. Climate change adaptation strategies

Socio-economic aspects of climate change : climate change policies, planning and adaptation strategies.

3. National adaptation strategies: from development to implementation

Coherence of regional and local strategies. Adaptation measures in sectoral policies.

4. Sectors of concern in respect to adaptation

Adaptation in agriculture, forestry. Water supply systems, energy production. Human health. Tourism and adaptation. Biodiversity/eutrophication/water quality of the Baltic Sea.
