"MIRRI-ERIC Voices" gives the stage to MIRRI-ERIC’s Partners to present their work, achievements, and innovations in the microbial world. Each episode features one MIRRI-ERIC partner’s chosen theme, offering insight into its unique contributions to the Consortium and to the European research landscape and promoting knowledge exchange across the MIRRI-ERIC network and the field of culture collection.
The third episode of "MIRRI-ERIC Voices" will be hosted by the Latvian Node of MIRRI-ERIC, featuring a one-hour presentation and Q&A delivered by Māris Seņkovs, researcher and lector at the Microbial Strain Collection of Latvia (MSCL).
The Culture Collection is a structural unit of the University of Latvia, Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences, Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology, being the largest microbiological resource repository in Latvia. It holds more than 1.700 different cultures of bacteria, yeasts, and filamentous fungi, from which the majority were isolated in Latvia and are the only samples of their kind.
Māris Seņkovs is also the National Node Coordinator of MIRRI Latvia, a member of MIRRI-ERIC that comprises, besides MSCL, the Latvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava".
