People with business or professional experience abroad - those who have returned to Latvia and those who still live abroad are often able to notice new business opportunities, and to create innovative ideas and cross-border cooperation networks, promoting knowledge and technology transfer, and supporting through their experience and expertise new, promising companies in their country of origin.

To find out the opinions of Latvian diaspora entrepreneurs on what solutions of knowledge transfer, attracting investment, facilitating export and promotion of networking of professionals would be most effective and necessary in case of Latvia, Centre for Diaspora and Migration Research, University of Latvia in collaboration with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) has launched a new study. As part of the study in-depth interviews will be carried out with Latvian origin entrepreneurs and professionals outside Latvia, as well as with entrepreneurs who have returned to Latvia. The study aims to explore and develop the most effective practical solutions of diaspora engagement, which could help promote exports and investment, as well as create and implement innovations. Therefore, the University of Diaspora and Migration Research Centre invites entrepreneurs who would be interested to express their views, to share their experience, vision and recommendations on those issues. An additional aim, in conjunction with a possible development of a networking platform of professionals and enterpreneurs.  is to identify diaspora and returnee entrepreneurs, professionals, potential entrepreneurs and investors, as well as simply activists with experience abroad who would be interested in cooperating in the implementation of the various support measures aimed at facilitating the economic cooperation with the diaspora, thereby contributing to the economic growth of Latvia. Regardless of whether you want to personally engage in cooperative activities, we would like to hear your comments and suggestions! In the current study, we will interview only a relatively small number of entrepreneurs and professionals, but the work on these issues is ongoing, so your willingness to participate and share your views and experiences is very important to us. If you would like to participate in the study and if you agree that a researcher contacts you in order to invite you to an interview (on Skype or on phone), please fill out this survey. If you have any questions, please email info@diaspora.lv.
