The 11th workshop “FT-IR Spectroscopy in Microbiological and Medical Diagnostics” was held at Robert Koch-Institute (RKI) on October 19-20, 2017. As always it brings together scientists from around the world to discuss, network & encourage the application of IR and Raman spectroscopic techniques for the characterization and differentiation of intact microbial, plant, animal or human cells.

Mara Grube and Karlis Shvirksts Presented two posters: FT-IR Microspectroscopy of Cancer Cells and Extracellular Vesicles” and “Single factor stress response studies of MCF-7 breast cancer cells by FTIR spectroscopy”.

Since 1993 we are at the University of Latvia.
Our history counts many research directions including soil microbiology, setting up a lysine factory, application of microorganisms for ecological tasks, production of valuable substances from waste, cell physiology, food biotechnology, medical applications, systems biology, mathematical modeling and other approaches.
