The technology transfer workshop was organised by the project LEANPROT, Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology (University of Latvia), Latvian Biotechnology Association, Latvian Society of Microbiology and Latvia University of Agriculture. There were speakers from Latvia, Estonia, Germany, and Norway. Latvia Biotechnology Association was represented by its chair Juris Vanags.

The workshop concentrated on the relationships between engineering based design and its application and applicability in industrial environment. Different hurdles of technology transfer were identified both by scientists and industry representatives.

The history of our institute has started in 1946…
Since 1993 we are at the University of Latvia.
Our history counts many research directions including soil microbiology, setting up a lysine factory, application of microorganisms for ecological tasks, production of valuable substances from waste, cell physiology, food biotechnology, medical applications, systems biology, mathematical modeling and other approaches.
We are open for new challenges!
