Jūrmala,

the largest Spa city in the Baltic countries, is well-known for its natural treasures – climate, sea, healthy air, curative mud and mineral water. The city stretches along 33 km of coastline on a peninsula between the Baltic sea Gulf of Riga and the river Lielupe. Forests and parks occupy about 3000 ha of territory with Ķemeri National park bordering city on the west. The city is characterised by its wooden architecture with woodcut accents, cottage-style buildings and resort centres - the wooden buildings of Jūrmala are significant and unique cultural heritage. The construction of city Jūrmala has historically formed along with the development of resort, when people came to undergo a cure and relax. In the city harmoniously co-exist - Classicism, Art Nouveau, National Romanticism and Functionalism. The list of architectural monuments includes 414 buildings, but more than 4000 correspond to the status of the city’s historical buildings. Jūrmala is divided into 13 residential areas - Priedaine, Lielupe, Bulduri, Dzintari, Majori, Dubulti, Jaundubulti, Pumpuri, Melluži, Asari, Vaivari, Sloka and Ķemeri. Dzintari is famous for the Dzintari concert stage, unique in Europe, which regularly hosts outstanding artists and ensembles.

You can reach Jūrmala by train (direction: Dubulti, Sloka, Ķemeri, Tukums; stop at Majori), minibus, river ship (from May till September), taxi or rent a car.
