Course abstract:
The course is meant to provide a practical introduction to critical thinking that in this case is understood as a range of certain skills and techniques that helps to analyse independently texts, information and argumentation. Critical thinking as a university course combines several aspects of logic and rhetoric. In this course, particular emphasis is placed on the rhetorical aspects in the broader meaning of the word, namely, the course focuses not just on the analysis of argumentation but also other techniques used for creation of effective texts and analysis which of these techniques should be considered reliable and which not so much. Real texts and information published in a variety of media is the main object of analysis in this course.

Course abstract:
The main objective of the course is to become fully aware of the most typical mistakes in the Latvian literary language in order to prevent them and thus to develop linguistic competence of the language. One day seminar for listeners is a way to assimlate theoretical and knowledges about healthy and unhealthy ageing, about possibilities to use positive self-monitoring in psychotraumatic situations, because healthy ageing is active ageing. Listeners can master their skills in the field of autogenious training, cognitive hypnotherapeutic communication, positive self-monitoring.
