This course provides introduction to data analysis that will help students within their scientific research, bachelor and master thesis preparation. Carrying out any research, it is necessary to gather, process and analyze data. Within this course, the basic statistical concepts will be introduced and data analysis typical for various fields based on real world data examples. The R software will be used as the data analysis platform, which is one of the most popular tools for statistical analysis and data visualization nowadays, both for research and commercial use in various fields (biology, medicine, social science, text analysis, finance etc.). In this course it will be shown how to import, visualize and analyze data with statistical methods in the R program. This is essentially a course focused on applied statistics, beginning with the preprocessing of data, descriptive statistics and leading to practical application of various statistical methods. This course requires no prerequisites and is designed for students of any study field, especially for those, who do not have statistics or data analysis courses in their study program.

The course contains an overview of the basic concepts of Arabic culture in general and the influence of various social, political, and economical factors on the preservation of Arab lifestyle and traditions. The course introduces the students to the diversity in the Arab world, the interaction of social, ethnic, and religious groups, and the influence of these groups on the culture and politics. Along with the historical overview of the topics, the course includes an analysis of current events, in particular, related to intercultural, inter-religious and intra-religious conflicts in the Europe and the Middle East.
