The aim of the Media Literacy course is to facilitate educators’ understanding about media literacy and the basic principles of media functions, to develop understanding of the role of media literacy in the process of educating society and to help the educators understand their role and possibilities in media education. The further education course has been developed on the basis of assumption that in the dynamic information and technology epoch every individual in knowledge-based society needs competencies and skills that help analysing and decoding media messages, as well as navigate skilfully in the information flow, to create and co-participate in media contents creation and to be able to interact online. Thus the educators have a potentially very significant role in developing the necessary skills.
