Last Update

The University of Latvia Alumni Choir "Jubilate" was founded in 2006. It has an active membership of more than 70 singers, most of whom are graduates of the University of Latvia.

The choir sings compositions by Latvian and foreign composers, and both religious music and settings of Latvian folk songs have an important place in its repertoire.

"Jubilate" has participated in the XXIV and XXV Latvian Song Festivals and the VIII Nordic and Baltic Song Festival. In 2013 at the first International Copernicus Choir Festival and Competition "Per musicam ad astra" in Toruń, Poland, "Jubilate" received a silver diploma.

The choir often performs outside of Latvia and has given concerts in Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Poland, Slovakia, and Sweden. In April, 2018, the choir performed in two concerts at Dev Sanskriti University in India as part of the celebration of Latvia's 100 years of independence at the university's Centre for Baltic Culture and Studies.

In 2018 "Jubilate" plans to participate in the XXVI Latvian Song Festival, which will take place in Rīga from 30 June to 8 July.

The choir's artistic director and principal conductor is professor Juris Kļaviņš, its choirmasters are Andris Mockus and Guntars Felsbergs, and its accompanist is Ilze Dzērve, a member of the faculty at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.

The singers of "Jubilate" rejoice in music and in being together, they fill their songs with power and inspiration. The compositions "Jubilate" sings at its concerts bring happiness to its listeners, and the members of the choir are just as active singing together on less formal occasions.
