The 68th UL Scientific Conference

The annual scientific conference will take place in the University of Latvia from January until May 2010, covering a wide range of scientific disciplines, from philology to astronomy. During the conference, university scientists, lecturers, students and guests will give reports of almost 1 500 papers.

The conference will be opened by a plenary session at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, in the Grand Hall of the University of Latvia. The opening lecture The Latvian National and European Common Foreign Policy will be given by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Māris Riekstiņš. Member of Saeima Kārlis Šadurskis will give a lecture on the Lisbon ‘Earthquake’; prof. Edvīns Karnītis, prof. Jānis Bičevskis and lecturer Ģirts Karnītis will present the paper National Development Planning System: Current Situation and Potential Progress.

The conference is organized in five plenary sessions and 143 section sessions. During the conference, lectures will be given of 1 454 papers covering a wide range of research fields: biology, geography, physics, chemistry, mathematics, astronomy, sociology, pedagogy, philology etc. The conference will be concluded on May 6, 2010, with the work of the Education Management Section.

The aim of the University of Latvia annual scientific conference is to ensure the exchange of research results, ideas and thoughts of scientists, lecturers and students. Scientific university conferences are held since 1945.

The University of Latvia students and staff, as well as others interested in these issues are welcome to participate in all conference events.
