The activities of the Library at Kalpaka  Boulevard are closely related to information provision for scientific research of the humanities and social sciences institutes of the University of Latvia, which are located in the same building.

The building project of the mansion at Kalpaka Boulevard 4 was developed in 1874 by J.F. Baumanis for the first Mayor of Riga, L.W. Kerkovius. This building came in possession of the University of Latvia in the nineteenth forties and until the renovation in 2012 it housed the Central library of the Library of UL. The process of renovation was completed in January 2013, but was not opened to visitors until September 27th 2013, a date that commemorated the 94th anniversary of the University of Latvia. It is the newest branch library of the Library of UL. There is an opportunity to apply for a guided tour in this renovated mansion.

The Library offers open access to collections in the humanities and social sciences, reference stock and periodicals, e-resources, individual cabins for research work, reading room and rest area on the second floor. For the academic staff, researchers and doctoral/PhD students of UL, there are available special premises for research work - cabines for individual work - located on the second floor of the Library.

The building of the Library is located in Riga City Centre, and is within easy reach from any public transport stop in the City Centre.
