Programming Chair aims at preparing highly skilled specialists for software development and maintenance. The academic staff members possess both the theoretical knowledge on software development and new technologies as well as practical experience, participating in different projects. Programming Chair mainly focuses on organizing the study process in the bachelor study programme while the master’s degree students are offered in-depth lecture courses in several fields of software development. The professors of this department organize events, such as programming and robotics competitions, that give students additional skills besides the study programme. The Chair carries out fundamental and applied research within the industry of computer science, focusing on software development and maintenance. The key research is conducted in the following fields: development of new technologies for systems development, information systems specification, improving global software development, information systems and information integration, intelligent software, data warehouse, artificial intelligence (especially neural networks), wireless sensor networks, embedded systems and computer architecture, software testing, the use of semantic web technologies, and the infrastructure of grid networks.
