Computer Science and Organisational Technologies – bachelor’s study programme

Latvia's leading universities – the University of Latvia and Riga Technical University – are jointly implementing the interdisciplinary computer science programme “Computer Science and Organisational Technologies” in cooperation with one of the world's leading universities – University at Buffalo in New York (BU). The implementation of the programme, including the admission of students, will be coordinated by Riga Business School at Riga Technical University.

“Computer Science and Organisational Technologies” or the Baltic IT Leadership Programme provides an opportunity to receive an international bachelor's level education in Riga. The graduate of the programme will become a leader with critical and analytical thinking skills, will develop skills such as making decisions, leading a team, analysing situations and solving problems, implementing creative technology projects and practical daily work.


The study programme includes courses in Mathematics, Computer Science and Communication, as well as Finance, Management and even Natural Sciences, as well as general education courses, such as Introduction to Psychology, International Business, International Commercial Law, General Art. General education courses will provide students with a broader perspective of IT processes, as well as develop the social skills that are needed to successfully operate and lead teams, as well as to cooperate with specialists in other fields. It is possible to choose other Social Science courses.

In the first two years of the study programme you will acquire a comprehensive theoretical basis or basic knowledge. Starting with the third year of studies, you will also have the opportunity to choose a specialisation.

Two Computer Science specialisations:

  • Artificial intelligence and data visualisation
  • Algorithms and computer security

Two management specialisations:

  • Finance
  • General management

After graduating the study programme, graduates have very wide opportunities to get a highly qualified job both in Latvia and abroad.

Graduates of the programme are prepared for studies in master's study programmes in Computer Science both in Latvian and other universities of the world.

Full-time in-classroom studies: 4 years (8 semesters)

Tuition fee for EU residents: the tuition fee for the first year is 4190 euros, the second year - 4390 euros, the third year - 4540 euros and the fourth year - 4700 euros. Upon graduating from this programme, you will obtain a bachelor's degree in Computer Management and Computer Science, receiving a double diploma – RTU and UL. The student has the opportunity to spend the final year in the United States, study at Buffalo University in New York (BU) and also receive a BU diploma. If the average mark at the end of university is more than 6.0, then you also receive a diploma from RTU Riga Business School.
