E-courses DatZ5134: Introduction to Computational Linguistics
Course annotation The course is designed for wide range of humanities students. The aim of the course is to introduce students with the main topics of computational linguistics, different language technologies and their application in humanities research, especially in linguistics. Different language analysis and processing levels (morphology, syntax, semantics) will be introduced through digital language resources and language processing tools. The course includes theoretical lectures and practical assignments allowing students to obtain necessary skills for research as digital humanities.

Results 1. Knowledge about computational linguistics, its key topics and main approaches (EB14, EB34).
2. Skills necessary for natural language modelling at different levels (EB14, EB22, EB23).
3. Basic skills necessary for research in computational linguistics (EB21, EB34).

4. Students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in different tasks related to computational linguistics. (EB21, EB24, EB34, EB35).
Requirements for obtaining credit points Successful completion of individual work – 70%.
Successful completion of oral final exam – 30%.
