E-courses Valo3440: Practicum of Lithuanian Language and Culture
Course annotation The course introduces with the Lithuania – cultural, scientific and social facts of life through the Lithuanian language, developing Lithuanian conversational language as well as reading and text-building skills. It is designed as continuation course for the students of Baltic and Lithuanian speciality who already have a basic knowledge of the Lithuanian language. Its goal – to deepen the student's knowledge and ability to listen, read, understand and interpret Lithuanian texts of fiction and press, to supplement the knowledge of grammar, enrich the vocabulary, develop conversational skills in order to prepare students for reading and translating independently scientific literature, as well as to prepare for scientific work.
Results During the practical classes there are systematyzed, strengthened and deepened the knowledge of Lithuanian grammar and conversational skills, as well as new information and skills are achieved:
1) watching Lithuanian feature films, listening to songs, reading fiction ekscerpts/fragments, students get acquainted themselves with the the creative works of writers, perceive the text, develop the ability to write essays Lithuanian and interpret literary works;
2) reading the Lithuanian newspapers and magazines students learn to understand the language of journalism, get acquainted with the Lithuanian current events of public life;
3) the introduction with the Lithuanian scientific terminology allow students to write summaries of the books and to participate in scientific conferences.

Requirements for obtaining credit points At least 2/3 of practical classes are obligatory, the preparation of independent tasks is 100% mandatory.
Active participation in practical classes: translation of texts, preparation and presentation of respective themes of colloquial speech.

Homework and essays – 50 %.
Test (presentation) – 50 %.
