|Course annotation||The aim of the course is to promote students` learning English for Special Purposes, focusing on oral communication, to develop reading skills of professional and scientific texts, reporting and translating skills, to improve and foster presentation, communication, listening and the use of language competences in the context of professional and general English. In the framework of the course students are expected to acquire the skills of planning and carrying out independent language study activities, skills to systematize, structure and apply special terminology for communication in professional environment.|
Within the course students are expected to acquire and to be able to perform
1) academic competences:
knowledge and comprehension of the chosen specialty applying English for Special Purposes. On the completion of the course students will be able to perform skills to analyze, synthesize, evaluate, to carry out self and peer assessment, to analyze and evaluate the results of their academic performance;
2) professional competences:
skills to use the language for writing, presenting, note taking, reporting, research and communication in professional environment;
3) further learning skills:
to proceed with improving professional performance applying the knowledge of English for Special Purposes.
|Requirements for obtaining credit points||1 2 successful oral tests (20%);
2 3 successful presentations (60%);
3 Successful oral examination – PowerPoint presentation on a professional topic, chosen by the student (20%).
It is not allowed to present and take oral tests repeatedly.
