E-courses MākZ3527: History of Latvian Theatre I
Course annotation The aim of the course is to introduce with the development of Latvian professional theatre from the beginning to 1940. During the course, the main events (formation of theatres) and personalities (directors, playwrights, actors etc.) that determined the development of Latvian professional theatre, are discussed.

Successfully acquiring this course, students get insight in processes and personalities that influence a formation and development of Latvian theatre, in connection with socio-political and cultural processes of the period. Students, without assistance, are able to analyze and evaluate phenomena of Latvian theatre, to characterize the most essential tendencies and processes in historical perspective.

Requirements for obtaining credit points Evaluation is depending on the accomplishment of three tasks (in percentages):
1)Regular and active participation in all seminars- 20%;
2)Two reviews about freely chosen books about Latvian theatre must be written without assistance during semester-30%;
3)Final test about the course content in the exam – 50%.
