E-courses MākZ2026: History of interior design
Course annotation Knowledge in history of interior styles enables to understand the regularities of creation and decoration of contemporary space. The aim of the study course is to acquaint students in development and formation from the ancient times till nowadays of one of the visual arts branches - interior design; to understand the appearance, changes and succession regularities of styles, factors impacting them; to understand psychology of living space
Results Having mastered the course, students acquire the understanding in:
□psychology of spatial perception (environment and emotions, environment and aesthetics, stimulus in the environment – space, colour, sound, smell, material, light, etc. Living space and stress factors, man and environment – personal features, personalization on environment, etc.)
□the world’s main styles and their brightest representatives in past (architects, artists, decorators) and present (interior designers, designers) days. Space – historical and contemporary – in historic and contemporary world and Latvia.
