|E-courses||LitZ4050: Literature and museology|
This course introduces to museum theory and practice, identifying the place of the museum in society. By learning functions of the museum (collection, exposition, pedagogical work, marketing), involving literature ( as well as memorial flats and houses). During the course, students master the theory og museology and the knowledge is tested in practice: comparing theory with the real situation in Latvia`ss (mostly Riga`s ) museums. Special attention is devoted to the museum mission, targets and goals, collecting policy and marketing.
On successful completion of this course, students will have acquired the understanding about the specific work of museums; they will have got acquainted with collections, exhibitions and pedagogical work, the place of material culture in the daily life of society; students will be able to express themselves creatively in interdisciplinary aspect – literature / other kinds of culture; they will be able to communicate with disabled people.

|Requirements for obtaining credit points||
Theoretical part: exam consists of a test (25%) and an essay (the analyses of an exhibition) (25%)
The end of the practical part – a presentation of a project for an event in the museum (50%).
