|Course annotation||The goals of the course: the aim of the course is to introduce students to an understanding of issues of poetry writing and poetic translation.
Course content: lectures will look at most important aspects of poetry writing such as imagery, polysemy, rhythm and musicality. The knowledge of theory is consolidated by writing exercises and analyses of texts at seminars.
Academic competencies: knowledge of basic issues in theory of poetry.
Professional competences: students will acquire an insight into practical application of literary theory to their creative work. Successful acquisition of this course will enable the students to create fiction of various genres and becoming adept in differentiation of various stylistic means, develop their own literary style.

|Requirements for obtaining credit points||1) 80% attendance of lectures and seminars or independent research paper on the themes discussed in the course,
2) poetic exercises (25% of total),
3) poetic translation (25% of total),
4) suite of poems 150-300 lines (50% of total exam).
