E-courses LitZ1084: History of Latvian Literature (1900–1920)
Course annotation
The course treats on the development of Latvian literature from the1900. to the 1920. While considering the development of Latvian literature during this period, the most important literary phenomena are emphasised. Particular attention is devoted to genres and literary movements within the context of European literature. The most important examples of types and genres of literature as well as prominent personalities are analyzed.
Results
Students will have 1) obtained a deeper knowledge of the history of Latvian literature, 2) developed skills necessary to analyze and interpret literary problems of the period, 3) developed the ablities to use theoretical terms and concepts, 4) developed the abilities to compare and critically evaluate various literary trends, 5) developed skills and abilities necessary to discuss texts of Latvian literature.
