The course is intended for students who have acquired the Russian language at elementary level A 2 1.

The aim of the course is the development of the communicative competence of students.

The goals of the course are as follows: improvement of the reading, listening and writing skills (Level A2); correction and improvement of pronunciation; development of vocabulary; acquisition of grammatical patters of the Russian language; introduction to peculiarities of the Russian cultural communicative behavior.

The course is based on the communicative approach which is intended to activate the language skills using the communication-oriented tasks.

The content of the course is worked out in accordance with the demands of the EU language politics.

Course annotation :

The aim of the summer school is to promote acquisition of the basics of programming and text encoding for digital humanists and digital social scientists.

The programme includes workshops and lectures in:

1. programming with Python;

2. text encoding and digital scholarly editions;

3. topic modeling;

4. metadata analysis and visualisation with Palladio;

5. digitized newspapers in Europe;

6. neural machine translation;

7. eye-tracking in researching reading behavior;

8. digital sociolinguistics.

 

Lectures and workshops are co-taught by an international team of researchers and practitioners of digital humanities and digital social sciences.

Course annotation :

The present course of English for the Humanities elaborates the skill of writing. This skill is split up into composing (gathering information, making mind maps, etc.), communicating (letters, e-mails, etc.), crafting (chronological and non-chronological descriptions, application of narrative and direct speech, making up a paragraph, etc.) and proof-reading and improving. The course envisages preclusive exercises of the most frequently occurring spelling, grammar and other language problems.

Course annotation :

The aim of course is to give knowledge of processes and periods of formation of multicultural society of the Latvia and intellectual benefits of ethnic minorities in society of Latvia. In this course students will gather knowledge about certain ethnic minorities: Baltic – Germans, Jews, Poles, Russians, etc., from the beginnings till nowadays.

In terms of course agenda there will be organized practical classes at the museum "Jews in Latvia," Riga's Greneschikov community of Russsian Old believers, discussions and analysis of articles and study movies.

The aim of the course is to develop an understanding on accommodation and vergence system dysfunctions and learn methods for accommodation and vergence system evaluation.

 

The tasks of the course are:

1. introduce to the physiological processes of accommodation and vergence;

2. give knowledge about accommodation and vergence dysfunctions and methods for accommodation and vergence system evaluation;

3. give knowledge about the treatment of accommodation and vergence dysfunctions with vision training and optical correction;

4. learn skills in evaluating accommodation and vergence processes, analyzing the results and the relation of the results to the patient's optical correction;

 

5. learn skills of adapting optical correction and developing vision training plain for patients with different accommodation and vergence dysfunctions
