Guest lecture by Professor Dr. Tibor Palánkai, Corvinus University, Budapest
On 11th of November 2010, the European Integration and Baltic Sea Region Studies involves students and all interested in the guest lecture „The Parameters of EU Integration Profile: the case of Hungary” conducted by Prof. Dr. and Jean Monnet Professor, Tibor Palánkai (at present Director of European Studies and Education Centre of Corvinus University of Budapest).
The lecture occurs in the University of Latvia, Raiņa Blvd. 19., in the 1st Auditorium.
About Prof. Dr. Tibor PalánkaiIn 2004 T. Palánkai became a full member of Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Since 2008 is titled as an Emeritus Professor.
During his academic carrier Prof. Dr. Tibor Palánkai gained several awards for educational work and research:
- European Commission Jean Monnet Prize 2010
- Honorary Doctor of Pannon University, 2010, Veszprem
- Széchenyi Prize 2009
- Deak Ferenc Prize 1998
- Prize of Hungarian Academy in 1994 and Order of Merit, given by the President of the Republic in 1998
The lecture focuses on the following issues: intensity of cooperation, structure and quality of integration, balances and distortions. Besides studies and theoretical background Professor also provides some practical cases from Hungarian economy and integration development.
Later there is held an informal meeting with the Prof. Dr. Tibor Palánkai, other professors and students, where different problems can be discussed among the participants. Prof. Dr. Tibor Palánkai with pleasure shears his experience and knowledge not only concerning Hungary but also other European Union and third countries.
