The series of guest lectures at the University of Latvia by Mr. Andris Piebalgs, Adviser of the President of the Republic of Latvia on European and Economic Affairs, former Commissioner from Latvia to the European Union, were commenced on March 6, 2015 and it was devoted to a comprehensive overview of the European Union's (EU) energy policy and energy security aspects globally.

1st part 18:15-19:45: 2nd part 20:00-21:30: The guest lectures are organized as a part of the interdisciplinary European Studies Master Programme of the University of Latvia in close cooperation with Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and the Centre for European and Transition Studies of the University of Latvia, as well as with support of the Latvian European Community Studies Association. Next lectures will take a place on March 20 and May 20, 2015 at the University of Latvia, Small Hall (Raiņa Boulevard 19) from 18:15 to 21:30 and will be devoted to issues related to EU development cooperation and EU budget. Please, register at ej.uz/2jax until March 18, 2015 for the second guest lecture devoted to the EU Development Policy that will take place on March 20, 2015 at the University of Latvia, Small Hall, 18:15 - 21:30. Taking into account an increasing share of foreign students and researchers at the University of Latvia through ERASMUS and other academic exchange programs the guest lectures are held in English.
