Mixed choir "Juventus"
The mixed choir of the University of Latvia “Juventus” (former Student choir of the Higher education institution of Latvia) has been founded in 1920. It is the oldest amateur student choir in Latvia.
The current art director of the choir is Juris Kļaviņš, the concert master is Ilze Dzērve.
"Juventus" is to be regarded as a large choir, which constantly gathers from 70 till 100 and more singers.
The choir has participated in all Latvian Nationwide Song and Dance Celebrations, it has been awarded the first places in choir parades and “song wars”. The choir has often won in international competitions: Kaunas inter-republican university choir competitions, the International Youth Choir competition in Belgium, Skien international choir competition in Norway, Lindenholzhausen choir competition "Harmonie" in Germany, Cork 52. International Choir Festival in Ireland, just to name few. The choir has performed in many countries around the world.
The friendliness and unity of the collective is supported by the traditions such as the shashlik ball, choir wedding, sports day, carnival and camping.
