The origins of the choir date back to the autumn 2004. When more and more students from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, University of Latvia, were involved into the choir, on the December 1st, 2007 the choir changed the official status and started acting under the umbrella of the UL „physmaths”.
The repertoire of the choir contains Latvian folk songs, classical pieces of Latvian and other nations, compositions of modern composers, as well as the spiritual music.
The choir has participated in the XXIV Latvian Nationwide Song and Dance Celebration, 25. International F. Schubert choir competition in Vienna, where has been awarded with the first place and the Golden diploma in the group of mixed choirs, as well as has been awarded with the Golden diploma in Spiritual music category. The art director and conductor Edgars Vītols has been awarded the Best conductor prize.
The energetic conductor, the virtuous concert master Mareta Beitika and the friendship of the singers attribute to the choir an exclusive aura. As a result a tradition has formed – the common congratulations on all birthdays of the choir’s community, choir camping and common active recreational measures.
