University of Latvia Faculty of Law compete in various moot court competitions annually. One of the first international competitions this year was the European Law Moot Court Competition, where Latvia was represented at the Regional Final in Switzerland by Sandra Galilejeva, Anna Jakšpētere, Lilita Sergejeva and Ketija Žubure. Andris Ambainis, a professor of the UL (University of Latvia) Faculty of Computing and the youngest academician in the history of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, was recently awarded with a European Research Council grant. For the first time, the prestigious financing was awarded to a representative from Latvia. At the moment, Ambainis is globally recognised as one of the leading researchers in the industry. In collaboration with both specialists from Latvia and international scientific communities, Ambainis is planning to conduct a globally significant research in the field of quantum computing. The aim of the research is to determine the limits and advantages of quantum devices.
