In the beginning of 2012 “CentralBaltic Job Ferry” (CB Job Ferry) project team has initiated the research on labour market trends and challenges in four neighbouring project regions of Latvia, Estonia, Sweden and Finland.

The exhibition “Azerbaijan — Latvia: Historical and Cultural Dialogue” was unveiled in Baku State University, Azerbaijan on 4 October, 2011. Mārcis Auziņš, Professor and Rector of the University of Latvia (UL), also participated at the opening event. The Exhibition was created in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to Azerbaijan and Baku State University. The Exhibition includes more than 300 exhibits from the funds of the UL Academic Library. A cooperation agreement between the UL and Baku State University was also signed. Moreover, valuable Latvian scientific books were donated to the Scientific Library of Baku State University.

The University of Latvia (UL) has signed an agreement with the Embassy of Canada to Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia on the International Academic Relations Programme for academic year 2011/2012. Within the Programme the Centre for European and Transition Studies at UL (CETS) will continue the European Studies Master's Programme with an emphasis on the Canada-EU relations.

During the meeting diplomas will be awarded to UL Honorary Doctors and Emeritus Professors and a promotion ceremony for UL doctoral students will be held. Before the meeting, at 10.00 an ecumenical service will bring together the University staff members and students in the Small Assembly Hall of UL.
