The staff of the International Relations Department serves as representatives and advocates for foreign exchange students in dealing with Latvian government agencies, other university’s offices and departments.
 
International Relations Department is responsible for the admission of the exchange students. International Relations Department makes sure that exchange students obtain university’s housing, organises the introduction meeting and in cooperation with Erasmus Student Network and Student Council - a variety of excursions and events for international exchange students during the semester (at which Latvian students are also welcome). Advice and support regarding exchange students’ enquiries and problems are available for the students at any time.
  
All exchange students during the registration week should visit the International Relations Department in order to register at the University of Latvia. After registration students will be able to apply in the Students Services for the student card of the University of Latvia.

Students who receive scholarship from the University of Latvia should open an account in a Latvian bank and give the details of this account to the International Relations Department. Scholarships are paid around 25^th of each month. Exchange students who receive the scholarship should inform in advance the International Relations Department about the end of the study period.

The coordinator of the International Relations Department signs the forms about the student’s matriculation required by the student’s home university, prepares the letters confirming the exchange students’ status for arranging the residence permit, issues the confirmation for buying a monthly transport ticket.

The director of the International Relations Department signs the Learning agreement as the institutional coordinator after the departmental coordinator (international coordinator at the respective faculty) has signed it.

Exchange students should send their lists of the mastered courses to the coordinator of the International Relations Department before departure, so that at the end of the study period it would be possible to prepare the certificate with the achieved results.
