The exchange student should be officially nominated by his/ her home university for exchange period within the bilateral agreements. Students who come within ERASMUS program do not receive the scholarship from the University of Latvia.

The scholarship is paid around 25th date of each month. The calculation of the amount of scholarship depends on the exact time of the arrival and departure of the student. Thus students after arrival should register at the International Relations Department as soon as possible. 

Exchange students who are eligible to receive the scholarship from the University of Latvia and whose study period in Latvia is shorter than 2 month will receive the scholarship at the International Relations Department in cash. Students whose study period at the University of Latvia is longer than 2 month will have to open the bank account in Latvia in order to receive the scholarship by bank transfer. Bank transfer can be made after student has received in the Citizenship and Migration Affairs the residence permit or - for citizens of EU - registration certificate.
