1) For EU, EEA citizens and their family members is 1500 LVL per year (the total tuition fee is 3000 LVL)

2) For other countries citizens is 2600 LVL per year (the total tuition fee is 5200 LVL)


Programme description 

The MBA programme INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS with specialization in Export Managment is designed to meet the business-learning needs of businessman on a global track and to address managerial issues that are relevant to doing business across national boundaries, while incorporating the necessary basics of business.  
 
The programme concentrates on the more detailed aspects of international economics, marketing, management and finance. Degree requirements have been designed to provide practical knowledge and training for future business executives. The programme provides the skills required to compete in the global market.  
 
This master programme is an international study programme executed by University of Latvia in cooperation with foreign teaching staff. 50 % of lectures and seminars are held by teaching staff from University of Latvia and 50% by teaching staff from abroad.

Study process in frames of study programme Master in International Finance will comprise intensive course modules held in the evenings of working days (from 18.15 until 21.30 pm). Lectures will be given by experienced international team of professionals and academic staff from University of Latvia and from abroad.


Possibilities after graduation
 
The programme is oriented towards the preparation of higher-level managers in any sphere of activity, and all the necessary preconditions for a successful career in international business are created for anyone who has successfully completed the programme. The programme has been developed in co-operation with several foreign partner universities that have experience in the implementation of similar professional Masters study programmes. The particular nature of the development of Latvian business and the great need in qualified specialists in international business while integrating into the global market have been taken into account during the development of the programme. The programme is one of the first professional Masters programmes in Latvia that satisfy such requirements.  
 
After the graduation of professional MBA program it is possible to take doctoral studies. 


Admission requirements for academic year 2010/2011

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in Economics or Business Administration;

    or
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences or other allied Sciences: Matehematics, Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Physics or Engineering;
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in Business or Economics (please include detailed description of your professional activity in your CV);
  • English language proficiency¹;

¹If English is not your native language and/or your previous education is not obtained in English you must present one of the following documents:  
1) TOEFL IBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Test) at least 80 or TOEFL PBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper Based Test) at least 550;  
2) IELTS (International English Language Testing System) at least 6 points; 
3) Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English – C; Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English – B; 
4) a positive grade in English at bachelor degree diploma or at an equivalent certified document; 
5) English language knowledge can be proofed in an interview. 


Necessary documents:

  1. Notarially certified copies of legalized undergraduate degree diploma and legalized diploma supplement. If these documents are not in Latvian or English a notarially certified translation of these documents shall be provided.

  2. Completed application form;
  3. Document confirming English proficiency (if necessary);
  4. Copy of your passport;
  5. CV;
  6. 1 photo;
  7. Copy of application fee payment document.
    The payment must be transferred to the bank account of the University of Latvia before applying for studies. Application fee is non-refundable.  

Please note! Application documents without included all required attachments and application fee payment confirmation will be understood as not valid and will not be forwarded for further processing.  


Application fee:

1. For European Union, European Economic Area citizens and their family members* is 15LVL (21Euro);  
2. For permanent residents (including long-term residents of the European Community) and their family members* is 15LVL (21Euro);  
3. For other citizens is 35LVL (50Euro).

* Under this clause family members are spouse, parents and children.

 
The deadlines for submitting application documents: 

1. For EU citizens and permanent residents is July 15, 2010;

2. For citizens from other countries is May 15, 2010.  


Legalization (certification of document authenticity)

  • Legalization is not a notarial act. It means verification of signature and seal of a document.
  • If education documents are issued in a country which has joined the Hague Convention 1961 (e.g. USA, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Georgia, India, Moldova etc.) they should be certified with an Apostille. The Apostille is issued by a competent institution (usually the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in the country of origin.
  • If education documents are issued in a country that has not joined the Hague Convention 1961 (e.g. Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka etc.) applicants should get a double legalization of their educational documents. The documents need to be legalized either by a competent institution (usually the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in the country of origin or by the diplomatic/consular mission of the country of origin and either by any Latvian diplomatic/consular mission or by Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular Department.
