Transfer students

You can join the studies at a later stage, changing from one institution of higher education to the same level or lower level study programme at the University of Latvia, or resuming studies at the University of Latvia after a break (ex-matriculation).
Students and individuals who have studied a licensed or accredited programme of higher education or part of it for at least two semesters, having obtained 40 credit points (60 ECTS), can join the studies at the University of Latvia at a later stage.
The applicant submits to UL Student Services or to the Faculty of Medicine the following documents:
1. Application form;
2. Academic transcript issued by the current or previous education institution (applicants who have previously studied at UL – a printout from the UL Information System);
3. Certified copies of the diploma and diploma supplement in original language confirming the previous education. Education documents (except documents issued in EU, EEA countries or Switzerland) must be legalized.
4. A notarized translation of education documents in English or Latvian;
5. Document confirming proficiency of the language of instruction (if necessary);
6. Copy of passport;
7. One passport-size photo;
8. Copy of application fee payment check. Application fee is non-refundable and must be transferred to the UL bank account;
9. Motivation letter (for Master’s degree programme “European Studies”);
10. Curriculum Vitae (for Master’s degree programmes “International Business with specialization in Export Management” , “Educational Treatment of Diversity” and “European Studies”);
11. Medical report and copy of entire vaccination document about Hepatitis B and TD-Tetanus/Diphtheria vaccinations (For Higher Professional Study programme “Medicine”).
The Dean of the Faculty (for doctoral and residency students – the Vice-Rector for Science) makes the decision on matriculation (or rejection).
Application fee
For undergraduate studies
EU/EEA/Swiss citizens and EU long-term residence status holders - 20 LVL (29 EUR);
Non EU/EEA/Swiss students – 35 LVL (50 EUR)
For postgraduate studies
EU/EEA/Swiss citizens and EU long-term residence status holders – 15 LVL (22 EUR);
Non-EU/EEA/Swiss students – 35 LVL (50 EUR)
DEADLINES
EU/EEA/Swiss and EU long term residents citizens and residence permit holders, who want to transfer from a foreign university, and students, who want to transfer from a higher education institution situated in Latvia, should apply up to the first day of the registration week of a semester.
Applications of citizens from other countries should reach University of Latvia till May 25, 2013 (the deadline for the Spring 2013 intake is November 30, 2012).
