The Centre for Baltic Studies of the University of Latvia coordinates the International Baltic University Programme (with secretariat at Uppsala University) activities in Latvia. Special attention is devoted to the international, interdisciplinary, problem oriented study courses of the Baltic Sea region: The Baltic Sea Environment,  Peoples of the Baltic, A Sustainable Baltic Region and others. The Centre for Baltic Studies was established in 1998.
