The Faculty of Theology at the University of Latvia continues the work of the Faculty of Theology which was established on February 4, 1920, and unlawfully closed on August 22, 1940. The Faculty of Theology is a structural unit of academic studies and research under the University of Latvia. It carries out critical research and prepares academically trained theologians, researchers of religion, university lecturers, specialists in ethics and teachers of religion and ethics. The Faculty is not subjected to any particular church, but cooperates with all traditions. Both students and teaching staff belong to different denominations.
