The Faculty of Social Sciences (SZF) is a 21st-century faculty.  It was established in 2000 and is one of the smallest faculties at the University of Latvia. In 2008, however, it was declared to be one of the top five faculties at the university. It has:

• Nearly 2,000 students;
• 57 professors, associate professors, docents and lectors;
• 12 researchers;
• 20 guest lectors;
• 24 employees who help to ensure that “life is good” at the faculty.
