The Department of Physics provides academic physics study programmes in all 3 levels: Bachelor, Master and Doctor as well as the professional programme of Physics Teacher.

The Department consists of 4 chairs and 2 scientific laboratories: Computer Technology Training Centre (assoc. prof. L. Buligins) and Laboratory for Mathematical Modelling of Environmental and Technological Processes (assoc. prof. A. Jakovičs). The professors and staff of the Department take part in the organization of Physics Olympiads for school students.
