The Chair of the Mathematical Basis for Computer Science is responsible for educating computing students and other auditors in discrete mathematics and other fields closely related to computing as well as theoretical fields of computer science related to mathematics. The chair also conducts research in the following fields: main directions are quantum computation and information theory, algorithm complexity, automata theory, inductive inference, graph theory, computational geometry, sound and image processing.
